Client Comments and Recommendations

2001 Africa:

“The dedication (of the staff at Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage) is dramatic! . . . The driver/guides were dedicated to park preservation, were knowledgeable and free with pertinent information” WH – British Columbia

“All predeparture information was most helpful. I particularly appreciated the pointers on how to minimize the effects of jet lag . . . every detail of the trip was taken care of.” CH – British Columbia

“Thoroughly enjoyed it, will be remembered for a long time” JR – British Columbia

“Best trip I’ve ever been on–and I’m not just saying that to flatter you!” EB –Alberta

“I had such a good time – all due to you – well you and the elephants!” JG-British Columbia

“Part of my best 10 moments - Standing in our Land Rover at a water hole in the Serengeti and in one sweep of the eye seeing Wildebeasts, Zebra, Lion, Hyena, Hippo, Crocodile, Vultures, Gazelles, and a huge variety of birds. It was quite a sight - and I will never forget the quote that started my quote journal – we saw some pretty good stuf! . . . .watching a pride of Lions on a rock formation for about an hour as they slept, stretched, ate and played . . . seeing elephants in yellow flowers that came up to their belly's in the Ngorongoro Crater . . . seeing the joy on our drivers face as he got the radio message that someone nearby had spotted a Leopard and he was so excited for us that he clapped his hands . . . standing up in the back of the Land Rover after a full day game drive, while everyone else was sitting down, letting the wind blow in my face and just taking it all in . . . Mount Kilimanjaro....at sunrise, sunset, 9am, 9:42, 10:03, 10:14, and regular intervals throughout the day, with various cloud formations with various types of wildlife in front of it (yes, pictures of all) .....I'll just say the people, we stopped at a girls school, a Masai Village, interacting with people at markets, the lodges, our incredible drivers and my traveling companions...they were all great and hold a special place in my heart. As I crossed Africa off my 'life list' I immediately added it again at the bottom!!! There are a lot more elephants to see!!!” JR – Alberta

“Regards to those not on the (email) list because it took all of them
to complete our perfect group.” K&L – Detroit MI

“People may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you
made them feel.” CR – British Columbia

“Thank you so much for the great video. I got it yesterday after work and watched is twice. Felt like I was back there on a second trip. It was so great to see all the animals and all our traveling buddies and the beautiful vistas and sunsets.” ML – Ontario

“We see and do so much on your trips that it is hard to remember it all and, when watching the videotape, are continually saying "Oh yeah, look at that, remember that!" MW – British Columbia

“I also want to take this opportunity to let you know how much we enjoyed our "African Adventure". When anybody asks about my trip, I simply state that it was my best holiday ever. I know that a great portion of our fantastic experience is owed to your personal involvement. Your love of the people, animals and Africa was constantly at the forefront and your enthusiasm and passion were contagious. We look forward to an opportunity to travel with you again. If you are ever in need of a reference please don't hesitate to use our names.” RJ – Alberta

Everything, from the time we boarded the plane until arriving home, was perfect. Thank you so much, Carol, for arranging such an incredibly memorable and meaningful experience. As time permits, we are gradually getting through our photos and video and reliving so many wonderful moments . . . thanks, too, to Nadine for rescheduling our flights and booking our accommodation in London. It was a perfect ending to an already perfect trip.” SR – Alberta

2002 Africa:

Just a short note to say thank you once again fro the trip of a lifetime. We could not have had nicer weather, and all our animal and bird sightings were fabulous. As enjoyable as each moment was,however, we all know that it was only your quiet organizing and ongoing arrangements that we were able to enjoy our experience to the fullest. Thank you.

"I had only one disappointment with the trip and that came after I was home and busily washing my clothes. As I took the stiffener out of my Tilley hat, I found $20 U.S. that I had tucked away for an emergency and had forgotten. I could have used it several times over at Mary's! Tell Mary how much we appreciated her staying open late for us. She has absolutely the best stock! And Godsend was truly a Godsend in ensuring our every whim was catered too." CH - Kelowna

"We had an outstanding trip ...after having 20 years of Africa in my blood it did not disappoint!!! I saw more variety and numbers of animals than I ever imagined, enjoyed the people I traveled with and allowed myself to be overwhelmed with the idea of being there!

" SO HERE ARE THE TOP 10 MEMORIES, TONIGHT ANYWAY, IN ORDER OF HOW THEY COME TO MIND!

1. Getting "pushed" by Frodo the chimp in the Gombe rain forest where Jane Goodall did her chimp research......
2. Standing in our Land Rover at a water hole in the Serengeti and in one sweep of the eye seeing Wildebeasts, Zebra, Lion, Hyena, Hippo, Crocodile, Vultures, Gazelles and a huge variety of birds. It was quite a sight!
3. Watching a pride of lions on a rock formation for about an hour as they slept, stretched ate and played
4. Seeing elephants in yellow flowers that came up to their bellies in the Ngorongoro Crater
5. Seeing the joy in our drivers faces as he got the radio message that someone nearby had spotted a leopard and he was so excited for us the he clapped his hands!
6. Standing up in the back of the Land Rover after a full day game drive, while everyone else is sitting down, letting the wind blow in my face and just taking it all in.
7. A little family of warthogs in the crater that were right beside our vehicle just eating, trotting along with their tails up, and being followed by the old patriarch.
8. After an amazing day of game viewing in Amboseli park, to be driving back to the lodge at sunset, cross a small bridge and see hippos right by our car, bobbing up and down in the water, with the sunset behind them.

9. Mount Kilimanjaro... at sunrise, sunset, 9am, 10:03, 10:14, and regular intervals throughout the day, with various cloud formations with various types of wildlife in front of it.
10. Hm... how did I get to 10 already... I'll just say the people, we stopped at a girls school, a Masai Village, interacting with people at the markets, the lodges, our incredible drivers and my traveling companions... they were great and hold a special place in my heart. JR - Calgary

I had such a good time. It was all due to you. (well you and the elephants!) Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you! You are a marvelous tour guide. The trip was perfect in every way. Maybe not for the jet lag. JG - Kelowna

From Carol:

And the last word goes to . . .
I too had an incredible journey with new friends. I never get tired of the amazement in someone’s eyes as they see Killie for the first time, or the laughter (some tears) as they watch a herd of elephants or the excitement as we pull up to a HUGE male lion sitting in the rain! You “safari-ites” are the best – you make my job easy! Thanks for the great support (and all the Killie’s along the way too!) and I hope to see you all again soon! xoxo Carol

Ecuador and Galapagos 2001:

Our Jungle Lodge:
* no doubt the best lodge in the area
* would have taken more socks!
* fabulous, worth every penny!
* wonderful place and staff
* Norby, our guide was excellent!

Our Boat:
* Valentin was a great guide
* must have air conditioning – would pay more if necessary
* itinerary was great
* size of boat perfect – boat was older - would have been better on a
younger boat
* would like hot shower and air conditioning on the boat
* 1 week at Galapagos was the perfect amount of time
* excellent guides, staff and food more than made up for any issues with the boat
* boat nice size with extreme helpful crew and guide – air conditioning would be nice

And we have listened!
Ecuador and Galapagos 2002 itinerary has a new boat – the luxury vessel Beluga and yes, that is why the price has increased. We have requested the same guide for the Galapagos section as well.

We will be returning to our favorite jungle lodge but only for 3 nights due to the increase of price of the Beluga.

The best way for us to give you a great vacation is for you to tell us what works and doesn’t. Many thanks to those who participated!
